Cashiers NC – Groovin’ on the Green
Cashiers NC is a quiet village nestled in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. The town offers a variety of activities for the whole family. These include art galleries, antique shops, craft stores, unique and palette-pleasing dining options and much more.
Local musician Jay Drummonds plays at the Highlands Friday Night Live Music series. He took a decade off from music, but now says he’s glad to be back in the business.
Cashiers Community Library
Located in the beautiful and peaceful valley of Cashiers, NC 3,500 feet above sea level surrounded by mountains rising to 5,000 feet. The Albert Carlton-Cashiers Community Library is a full service public library that provides books and many other resources to both permanent and seasonal residents of the area. As a member of the Fontana Regional Library system patrons also have access to many other collections and services.
The Library also hosts events for the whole family. These include Movie Nights where you can watch a movie on a large screen. This is a fun and relaxing way to spend the evening.
The library is also home to the Cashiers-Highlands Humane Society which offers adoptions and lifesaving programs. You can help this organization by donating to them. A donation of cash, pet food or blankets is always appreciated. You can also donate to the Cashiers Cares organization which supports 10 local charities. This is a non-profit, tax-deductible charitable organization.
Highlands Friday Night Live Music
The Groovin’ on the Green music event is a fundraiser for the Cashiers School of the Arts, a non-profit that strives to make arts education and experiences accessible to all. Bring your lawn chairs, cooler and friends to The Village Green Commons for a fun night of live music and dance. This event features guided dance routines and is suitable for all ages.
This event celebrates the heritage of the Blue Ridge Mountains and promotes local artists, farmers and vendors. Visitors can purchase handmade crafts, fresh food and other specialty items. The festival also includes a parade, music and entertainment.
Presented by the Highlands Chamber of Commerce and Visit Highlands NC, these summer concerts are sure to please. Enjoy mountain music from local talent while enjoying a picnic in the beautiful town square of Highlands. You can also shop at the town’s unique artisan vendors in The Lot. This event is free to attend.
Groovin’ on the Green
Groovin’ on the Green is a vibrant, free summer concert series that offers unforgettable music experiences for the community. It features talented regional musicians and food from local restaurants. Each concert begins at 6:00pm, rain or shine, on the Village Green Commons. The concerts are family friendly and dogs are welcome as long as they are leashed at all times.
The NorthWest Neighborhood Alliance is bringing back the popular Groovin’ on the Green live music event this September. It will feature a variety of genres of music at Moneta Sleet Jr. Park. The event is free to attend, and attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs to sit on the lawn.
After taking a decade break from music, Cashiers native and hometown favorite Jay Drummonds has returned to the stage. His latest album is a tribute to his faith, his family, and the many friends who have encouraged him to fulfill his passion for writing and performing.
